First Post!

My name is Brandon Lepley and this is the first post of my forex journal blog. I'm starting this blog for 2 reasons. I'll get to the second reason in a while. But the first reason is so I can reference back to this blog when I do end up making it in this business. I want to remember the hard work that it took to get to where i'll be and be able to appreciate it.

I recently read in the book 'trading in the zone' by mark douglas that everyone has an AH-HA moment when they understand something. When they have that moment they are instantly changed and cannot see themselves as the same person they were before. What was once difficult and very hard to see is now clear as day. Its as easy as walking, writing or talking. I've had moments in my life that i can look back on and say "yep that was an AH-HA moment".

Moments like finally understanding algebra. I'm also a computer programmer so I remember the moment when it all made since. Now programming is like driving, No thought. But the best and easiset-to-explain "AH-HA" moment I have is golf. I'm an excellent good golfer, I actually play to a scratch handicap and with the motivation could do it for a living. I won some tournaments as a junior golfer, all conference in high school, etc etc.

I remember everything about the moment I hit the golf ball the way it is suppose to be hit. the way professional and very, very good golfers hit the ball. I was 15 years old. I was in the backyard of my dads house hitting into the net we had set up. I had a cheap set of golf clubs but i remember they were "Knight" brand. I remember it was a 5 iron i hit. I remember it was a sunny day with some clouds in the first month of school. I remember noone was home. I was hitting outside by myself just pounding away looking for the right swing. I remember my step-mom was always very angry about the fact that i had a 3 foot by 3 foot bare spot in the nice lawn because of my golf shots. I remember the feeling when the ball hit the face and took off like a rocket. I remember becoming excited instantly. I jogged around for a moment gathering my thoughts.... talk about an "AH-HA" moment.

The reason I went into such great detail is to show what that moment is like. I now hit the golf ball so effortlessly that it requires no thought or confusion (and i do hit it a loooong ways). I don't swing hard or force anything. It just happens, and its beautiful :) Everyone around me marvels at how I hit it, but to me its normal. No biggie.

Now THATS where i want to be with forex trading. I want it to be normal like swinging a golf club. Good trades come to me effortlessly like they do for the professional traders. Not forced or contrived, the trades appear and i take them.

I feel like trading is a skill that can be learned. I believe traders can be made and are not born. One huge difference between trading and 99% of other professions is the mental aspect. The fact that you are playing odds and that nothing is guaranteed is what separates trading from other "jobs". I am 100% dedicated to learning both the mental and physical aspects of trading. What better skill to learn than something that allows you to work whenever you want and has unlimited income potential? That question is exactly why i'm in this business. I'm 25 years old and have an opportunity to work at this as my job, with financial backing, basically until i want to quit. who gets that kind of chance? not many so thats why i'm taking advantage of it.

Of course, i have a wonderful and beautiful wife and daughter behind me all the way. I work with my dad every day. We do this together and having someone by your side trying to "figure it out" is just awesome. We get along great and think the same way so its easy to interact and bounce ideas. I know i have a unique situation and am grateful for it.

This post seems so long already so i'll cut it off here. but my next few posts will detail the following topics:

My personal history
My trading history
How I am learning to trade
Where I see myself in the future
How I am going to be successful
And the second reason I am writing this blog (for you the reader)

See you next post,

Brandon
